Ilkley Cycling Club are excited to welcome the world’s top cyclists to Yorkshire again this weekend and even better that stage 3 comes through our town and neighbouring villages  –  a testament to the fantastic welcome and celebration Ilkley, Addingham & Burley gave to the Tour De Yorkshire .

For those who don’t already know there are 144 riders signed up from the pro teams including Team Sky, IAM Cycling, Giant Alpecin, BMC etc etc plus the launch of “Team Wiggins” . The 3rd Stage of the race will come through Ilkley from around 3.30pm on 3rd May. Though most of the route will be managed with rolling road closures from an hour before & very few barriers , The Grove will be shut all day for the last sprint before the finish alongside Betty’s before the ascent of the Cote de Cow & Calf.

Where will you be watching ??
There will be plenty of visitors around Ilkley over the weekend and we’ll be putting on the usual club  rides ( see rides page for details) but maybe a bit shorter to allow us all to get back to cheer on Wiggo  & our local Yorkshire pros including Tom Barras .

Good luck to our ICC riders including Nina Benson (Pictured above ) in the Women’s Tour de Yorkshire race on Saturday in York .

We also have 51 club cyclists  in the Tour De Yorkshire Sportive on Sunday – let’s give them a big cheer as they come through Ilkley towards the end of a challenging ride. For those inspired to ride some of the roads of last years Tour De France again or for the first time we still have some places available in the 2015 White Rose Classic Sportive (3 routes available)  – details & Entry link here

all race stages & route details are on the Tour de Yorkshire link above

    ICC in 2015

2015 is set to be another great year for cycling in Yorkshire with the Tour De Yorkshire stage race in May bringing top level pro cycling to our county and of course Stage 3 bringing the riders through Ilkley and up the Cow & Calf Climb . ICC will no doubt be out in force to enjoy the spectacle

As well as a great spectator sport , cycling is very much an activity  in Ilkley Cycling Club for participants at all levels from those learning to ride with their families , joining in our youth activities or wanting to join one of our social rides ( see the Rides page ), challenging themselves at our renowned White Rose Classic Sportive,( entry here) to our local club racers keen to succeed across all the cycling disciplines ( details on our Racing pages )
Our training day on Saturday 28th Feb at the Steven Burke Sports Hub , Nelson was a great success & well attended by young people and adults – it shows what great use we could make of our own local off road circuit facility – hopefully our plans will see some progress in 2015.
Club race events include our Open 10 Mile TT on the local Addingham Circuit 15th March – entries Via CTT online - and our Open 25 Mile TT on the Boroughbridge Circuit 5th April – Online entry open now. ICC ’s 2 day team race will take place again the last weekend in May ,and the Town Centre Races will bring all of Ilkley out again on June 24th . We have the White Rose Classic on June 28th and our ‘vintage tweed’ ride the day before . Later in the year we will be running our really successful ICC Cyclocross event again.

Volunteer helpers from the club are requested at all these events – contact me via and I can put you in touch with the relevant organiser. (more…)

    Our Aims

    • To promote cycling to the people of Ilkley (and surrounding areas) and to those who cycle in or near our town
    • To provide an avenue for club members to race and compete by having affiliations to governing bodies (British Cycling,  Cycling Time Trials, MTB, cyclocross etc)
    • To provide a focus for recreational cyclists and promote the sport at grassroots level.
