Spring is here & many more ICC members will be joining the winter stalwarts on club rides and activities .
Membership renewals are now due – we are now using the BC Club membership tool ( see the join us page for details) .
Lighter nights & warmer mornings mean numbers increase across all rides and we’ve a few changes to rides organisation to hopefully accommodate all levels of cycling ability in larger numbers .
There is something for every level of cyclist in Ilkley Cycling Club from those learning to ride with their families , joining in our youth activities or wanting to join one of our social rides ( see the Rides page ), challenging themselves at our renowned White Rose Classic Sportive 2016 ( entry here) to our local club racers keen to succeed across all the cycling disciplines ( details on our Racing pages )
Our initial TT race event of the season on our local circuit had a good entry & some impressive times posted given the conditions on the day . Our next TT event is our “open ” 10 mile TT on the Boroughbridge course April 30th . New for 2016 we’re running one of the North Yorkshire Road Race series evening race events on April 28th & ICC ’s 2 day team race is taking place again on the 7th & 8th May with teams competing from all over the country. The Town Centre Races is booked again for Wednesday June 22nd for a spectacular evening of racing from youth boys & girls through to the Elite women & men . The White Rose Classic on June 26th is already filling up with entries & the ‘vintage tweed’ ride is planned again for July 9th . In Autumn we will be hopefully running our really successful ICC Cyclocross event again.
We have the ever popular club trips booked for Majorca 14th May and Grinton Youth Hostel 10th – 12th June . These will fill up soon so don’t delay in booking if you’re keen to join in the cycling fun .
White Rose Classic 2016
Entries are filling up for the 2016 edition of the White Rose Classic Sportive on the 26th June 2016 . We have the fabulous Ilkley Rugby Club as our HQ again . The 3 challenging route options ( 50 , 84 & 114 miles) remain virtually the same with a slight change from Burnsall – taking all riders up the Fell to Barden Tower then onto Bolton Abbey rather than via Appletreewick. To encourage even more women new to cycling to participate or for those wanting to challenge themselves to a longer route riding with other women we are offering optional additional women only start times for each route with support riders following the group in case of any problems ( alongside the mechanical etc support offered to all riders). We are also looking into providing a “splash & dash” extra drink station at Ribblehead . Details are now on our website and further information via the BC entry link . A great incentive for autumn & winter training . more details & entry link here
